limit Ameer Abdullah

Leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft, each day NFL Fantasy will profile a prospect who could make a splash in fantasy next season. Today’s subject is former Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah jersey cheap jersey cheap.

According to most pundits and scouts, it’s a two horse race for the draft’s top running back between Melvin Gordon jersey cheap and Todd Gurley jersey cheap. However, floating right on the periphery of that elite tier is Ameer Abdullah jersey cheap jersey nfl jerseys from China
cheap, a smaller, immensely talented, hard working running back out of Nebraska. Abdullah usually clocks in at any where from No. 3 to No. 7 on prospect rankings, typically pushed down for very real ball security issues. I went to the tape to see just what might be in store for Abdullah in his rookie season from a fantasy perspective.

It was hard limiting Abdullah’s strengths to just four in the above section, because he is an impressive runner on tape. Abdullah might be the fastest accelerator in the draft, even if he’s not the fastest runner. He gets from 0 60 in a hurry when he’s cutting upfield or breaking into the open.

Abdullah has the hallmarks of a complete back at the NFL level, based on his vision, patience and full arsenal of moves. Watching his savvy combination of moves in the open field is a thing of beauty, as defenders get spun around and are left tackling shadows. His feet are as quick as pistons, and his balance allows him to bounce of initial Chinese Wholesale Jerseys
contact and gain countless extra yards. He also packs a pretty solid punch in his smaller frame, but won’t go down as this draft’s best power back for obvious reasons.

Ball security is a concern

I repeat, ball security is a concern

Lacks top end speed

Smaller frame than typical backs

The biggest knock on Abdullah is his well documented fumbling issue, as he had 13 fumbles over his career at Nebraska. He did improve in each year, greatly increasing his average number of touches between fumbles, but he’ll definitely need to prove to NFL coaches that he can hang onto the football if he wants to see the field.

Abdullah’s lack of top end speed is disconcerting, as he was frequently caught from behind at Nebraska. However, he is a truly explosive athlete, and with his lightning quick acceleration and other attributes he can still be a difference maker at the NFL level. The Ravens re signed Justin Forsett jersey cheap jersey cheap, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring in his eventual replacement and form a dangerous committee with Abdullah. Dallas is in need of a feature back, and while Abdullah doesn’t quite have the typical “build,” he could really make the most of the lanes that offensive line would open up in front of him.

Early fantasy draft projection

As long as Abdullah doesn’t end up in his coach’s doghouse for fumbling issues (or buried on a depth chart), he should make a splash in fantasy at some point in 2015. He has a unique and explosive combination of skills that should quickly translate to the pro game. He’s definitely worth a pick in redrafts. How high will just depend on where he lands come draft day.

Lamar Jackson looks like first overall pick

The scoop: “The thing I took away from the (Clemson Louisville) game is that Lamar Jackson has the look of a first (overall) pick, but I don’t think (Deshaun) Watson has the same look.” NFC executive on Louisville QB Lamar Jackson and Clemson QB Deshaun Watson jersey cheap

The skinny: “Look” is a very subjective scouting term, but this executive clearly sees things in Jackson that he doesn’t see in Watson. Watson was expected to build on his strong 2015 campaign with the return of wide receiver Mike Williams jersey cheap. Instead, NFL personnel men have been underwhelmed by Watson’s 2016 season. Watson has 14 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and has seen his completion percentage drop from 67 to 60 while his yards per attempt are down over a full yard. On the flip side, Jackson has taken a massive step forward as a playmaker and gamebreaker. He has NFL scouts paying attention to him despite the fact he’s only a true sophomore and won’t be eligible for the draft until 2018 at the earliest. Watson threw for five touchdowns discount nfl jerseys
and three interceptions in the matchup against Louisville, but it was the strong second half performance by Jackson that grabbed scouts’ attention.

The scoop: “I came into the season thinking one way on Tim Williams jersey cheap and now I’m thinking another way. He isn’t a factor on first downs and then off the field he’s getting in trouble, too. It’s starting to feel like he’s too high maintenance for me.” NFC scout on the Alabama DE/OLB

The skinny: Williams was suspended for the first half of Alabama’s 34 6 win over Kentucky on Saturday after he was arrested last week on a gun charge. Williams dominated in the second half with three tackles for loss, including a sack and a forced fumble. Williams is enormously talented. Alabama tends to deploy him as a pass rush specialist while allowing others to handle the work on early downs. If scouts don’t believe Williams can handle every down work, it could have an impact on his draft stock. His charge of carrying a pistol without a permit might be viewed as a minor indiscretion by some teams, but this scout obviously believes it could be indicative of a bigger headache that might come along with Williams once he gets into the pros.

The scoop: “For those of us who scout the West, it might be smart Cheap Jerseys
to rent a place in Seattle because we are going to be spending a lot of time there in the future.” AFC scout on the talent at Washington

The skinny: By the looks of Washington’s blowout win over Stanford last Friday evening, this scout might be right. Safety Budda Baker jersey cheap and cornerback Sidney Jones jersey cheap, both talented juniors, are squarely on the radar of NFL scouts. However, sophomore quarterback Jake Browning could be the prospect that scouts end up doing the most homework on in the next year or two. Browning (6 foot 2, 209 pounds, per school measurements) has average size, at best, and has yet to throw for 300 yards in a game this season, but he’s building on a strong freshman season and looked like he was in complete command in the demolition of Stanford.

Joe Lombardi force out of Lions

The grandson of Vince Lombardi, Joe arrived in Detroit without experience as an NFL coordinator. He spent seven seasons with the New Orleans, including five years as Drew Brees jersey cheap jersey cheap’ quarterback coach. Lombardi’s place in Detroit always felt like an awkward fit. He struggled to adapt a Saints like offense in Detroit based on timing and precision. Matthew Stafford jersey cheap jersey cheap has never mastered the finer points of the position like Brees, and he regressed in an offense built around short passing.

Under Cooter, the Lions coach hinted that Stafford would improve and return to form.

“The offense is kind of built around the guy you usually have handling the ball most often,” Caldwell explained. “Those two guys have a good relationship, a good synergy. Sometimes it makes it a little bit more easier. It’s tough anyway, but it makes it a little easier in terms of the communication.”

The last straw for Lombardi came on Sunday when the Lions lost to the Minnesota Vikings jersey cheap to drop their record to 1 6. Stafford and the team’s offensive line has struggled to recognize where pressure is coming from all season.

“I think Joe was receptive to Chinese Wholesale Jerseys
the things I had to say. If anything, I got to do a better job of communicating too,” Stafford told the media. “It’s on everybody when bad stuff happens. I can always be better, too. . It’s not one person. When it gets to this point, it’s a lot of people involved.”

Caldwell, who has an offensive background, has been under fire for not delivering on his promise to improve Stafford. Caldwell, who is a proven offensive coach from his days in Indianapolis and Baltimore, figures to take on a larger role constructing the offense. If he’s going to get heat, he may as well do it with his style of offense.

When asked why he finally made the decision to let go of Lombardi, Caldwell replied, “Because we just were not productive, that’s the key. . The big thing is to be productive on a continuous basis. Every game requires something just a little bit different and the thing you have to understand is you can’t change an offense in its entirety in two weeks’ time, four weeks’ time. So it’s going to take obviously some adjustments along the way.”

Caldwell was instrumental in Peyton Manning jersey cheap jersey cheap’s career and getting the Colts to the Super Bowl in the 2009 season as their head coach. He was hired late in the 2013 season in Baltimore, turning the Ravens’ offense around and helping Joe Flacco jersey cheap jersey cheap win a Super Bowl. With Lombardi as his offensive coordinator, he was unable to replicate that success in Detroit.

While the Lions won 11 games last season, Stafford was more erratic than ever. The offensive efficiency was No. 19 in the league last year according to FootballOutsiders, which was the team’s exact same rank as 2013. They had fallen to No. 26 this year under Lombardi.

The Lions head to London this week to face discount nfl jerseys
the Kansas City Chiefs jersey cheap and then have a bye in Week 9. Caldwell did not want to wait another week to make a big move for his franchise.

NFC South teams jerseys

Brooks’ perfect draft pair: Clemson DE Shaq Lawson jersey cheap (Round 1, pick (9); Miami CB Artie Burns jersey cheap (Round 2, pick 39)

Brooks’ take: The Bucs should feel good about their offense they need to improve their defense to give themselves a chance to compete. I believe they need to look at the pass rusher position and cornerback. For a pass rusher, I like Lawson for the Bucs. He’s an edge rusher who can set the edge in the run game and also has some nice hand skills. I love the way he’s combative at the point of attack. I think he’s going to be a double digit sack artist at the next level. Burns is a super explosive athlete. He’s long, rangy and does a great job of getting his hands on the ball (6 interceptions last season). He’d be a nice fit in coordinator Mike Smith’s defense because they play a lot of zone.

Jeremiah’s take: Treadwell would give the Saints some size in the red zone, which is something they’ve been in need of since Jimmy Graham jersey cheap was traded last offseason. Correa is one of my favorite players to watch among this year’s prospects. He has a lot of production as a pass rusher. Against the jerseys for cheap
run, he has some shock in his hands and he will give you unbelievable effort from the back side to make plays. As a prospect, I liken him to a poor man’s Clay Matthews jersey cheap jersey cheap. I think his best football is ahead of him.

Brooks’ perfect draft pair: Ohio State OLB Darron Lee jersey cheap (Round 1, pick 17); UCLA DT Kenny Clark jersey cheap (Round 2, pick 50)

Brooks’ take: Head coach Dan Quinn needs to get his defense to play faster, and Lee is a perfect fit at the weakside linebacker position. He’s an explosive athlete with great instincts. He has the versatility that you look for in terms of being able to get to the quarterback as well as cover receivers in the slot. I think the Falcons will double down on defense in Round 2. Clark is athletic and versatile he can play multiple positions along that defensive line. When Quinn was coaching the Seahawks’ defense in his previous position, he had a lot of players up front that could move around and do a bunch of different things. Clark can be that type of guy for Atlanta.

Jeremiah’s perfect draft pair: West Virginia S Karl Joseph jersey cheap (Round 1, pick 30); Penn State DE Carl Nassib jersey cheap (Round 2, pick 62)

Jeremiah’s take: Joseph is kind of a poor man’s Earl Thomas in that he’s a little bit undersized but plays bigger than his size. He has unbelievable range from the middle of the field and NFL Jerseys China
has good ball awareness. He’s a big hitter, too. He’s a stud. He brings energy and excitement to a defense. Nassib is an ultra productive pass rusher. He walked on at Penn State and had to earn his way. He blossomed late in his career. Nassib has long arms and he knows how to use them. He would give them some more edge rush to team up with their stud defensive tackles.
