Rangers announcer on Prince Fielder’s struggles and MLB pitching adjusting to Nomar Mazara

Show on KRLD FM 105.3 The Fan to talk about the Rangers season so far. Here are some highlights:

How Nomar Mazara jersey cheap is adjusting to big league pitching as he sticks in the big leagues:

Grieve: It looks to me like when a Young jersey cheap player comes up to the big leagues, the first thing he has to establish is that he can hit the fastball. And I think pitchers will try to find that out early and I guess they probably did with Mazara. There’s no doubt that he can hit the fastball. Recently I’ve seen them throw very typical, a lot of offspeed pitches, slow pitches down and out of the strike zone to see if they can get him to chase them. And then throw him up and in with good, hard fastballs. That’s not a formula that is particularly unique for Mazara. That’s pretty much the way pitchers attack hitters anyway.

The good thing with him is he uses the whole field, as they have said many times he’s not afraid to hit with two strikes. The times he has looked bad on a right handed breaking ball down and in and out of the strike zone, everybody does that. Even experienced hitters do that in a course of a game. You have to remember this kid has barely played in Triple A and he’s seeing the best pitchers in the world for the first time. He knows what they have got but he hasn’t seen it. And the adjustments he has made after only 125 at bats have been pretty good.

On Prince Fielder jersey cheap’s struggles and how he can turn it around:

Grieve: Who knows why a player is struggling? I couldn’t tell you. Maybe to a certain degree he has expanded his strike zone a little bit. Maybe he’s a little over anxious to get hot and get out of his slump. That’s caused him Wholesale Jerseys
to swing at some pitches he might not normally swing at. It could be something a little bit mechanical, he’s not seeing the ball, things that contribute to slow starts. But I think a reasonable expectation is something that resembles what we saw last year. Now I’m not saying he’s going to end up hitting .300 after this start, but to swing the bat the way he did most of the season last year. It doesn’t appear that he’s going to be kind of hitter to hit 55 home runs again like he did 10 years ago, but if he is the kind of player and swings the bat he did all season last year, then I think you’d be very happy with that. Based on how hard he works, his attitude, I don’t see any reason why he can’t get back to the player that he was last year. I think that’s a very reasonable expectation.

About Yohander Mendez jersey cheap

When details of the new baseball collective bargaining agreement started to leak out Wednesday night, one aspect, in particular, caught the eye of Rangers GM Jon Daniels.

It was the flattening out of bonus pools for International Scouting, putting all teams, more or less, on a level playing field there. There will be no international draft, but there also won’t be a huge difference between what the team with the worst record in the majors gets to spend on Young jersey cheap Latin talent and the best.

Or, at the very least, it’s more of a competitive balance. Over the four years of the slotted bonus pool system, the Rangers’ average pool has been about $2.5 million less than the team with the highest pool. According to multiple reports, the new system will have three tiers based on team revenues with bonus pools of $5.75 million; $5.25 million and $4.75 million. They are likely to fall right on the line between the teams with the highest revenues and middle tier. Either way, there won’t be more than $1 million between what they have to spend and what their competitors have.

“We view that as a positive development,” Daniels said. “The bottom line is that before it was a huge advantage to have a lesser record when it comes to the amateur market. I don’t know if you want to call it incentive to lose, but it was, I think, one of the unintended consequences.

“This would put it back more into the hands of the evaluators the scouts and the analysts. We feel very confident that we have some of the best evaluators in the game. You take away the financial advantages and the strategy that goes with it and it puts people back to more equal footing about making the best baseball decisions. That’s an area where we thrive.”

True enough. Chinese Wholesale Jerseys
Under Daniels, the Rangers have mined Latin America, signing Martin Perez jersey cheap, Jurickson Profar jersey cheap, Rougned Odor jersey cheap and Nomar Mazara jersey cheap to name a few major leaguers. The next wave of Rangers talent is loaded with Latin American talent including Leody Taveras, who might be the best prospect in the system, Andy Ibanez, Ariel Jurado and Yohander Mendez jersey cheap.

Over the years, the Rangers have been hit hard on their Young jersey cheap Latin players in trade talks and they’ve held on to them like gold. It has started to pay off in the majors.

The new CBA gives the Rangers more opportunity to keep the pipeline flowing with fewer restrictions.

Esa Lindell’s next big challenge comes in the form of Alex Ovechkin

Rookie Esa Lindell’s Success jersey cheap comes as no surprise to the Stars.

The 22 year old is among the best rookie defensemen in the NHL and the best overall rookie of the eight who have played for the Stars this season.

“If you say he has exceeded expectations, we might have set them too low,” coach Lindy Ruff said when asked if Lindell had done better than expected. “We thought he was going to be a really good player, and I think he’s proven that. Wherever you want to put those expectations, he’s been a steady performer throughout the whole year.”

Lindell ranks second on the Stars and third among all rookies, averaging 21:29 in ice time. He is third on the Stars and fifth among rookie defensemen at plus 7. He is fast becoming a key to the Stars’ future.

“I think everyone wants to play against the best players and play the most minutes. That’s what you work for,” Lindell said. “If I’m doing that, then I think I’m doing my job.”

Ruff said he is leaning on Lindell to do more each game. Lindell has been moved to the first power play unit in recent games and has led the team in time on ice during a 4 2 0 run over the last six games. “When you first come up and you’re a little unsure, your gap is a little bad,” Ruff said. “Now, his gap is good and his feet look really good, and he can defend some of the best speed players in the league.”

Lindell said getting the extra time on ice makes him feel more relaxed.

“I think you get into a flow where you play, you sit, you play, you sit, it feels natural,” he said. “Maybe you don’t think too much when you play like that. I think you just play and feel good.”

And while Lindell has just 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 56 games, Ruff said he sees offensive potential. Lindell had 42 points (14 goals, 28 assists) in 73 games with the Texas Stars last season. He had 35 points (14 goals, 21 assists) in 57 games with Assat Pori the year before.

“Really, I think he’s got one of the quickest wrist shots,” Ruff said when he discussed why he wanted to move Lindell to the top power play. “The fact that a lot of times you’re under pressure, we’re just looking for a guy that can just move it and distribute it and shoot it real quick. I think he’s been one our better options, and he’s a Young jersey cheap guy we’d like to give a look at.”

“He’s shown a steady progress when it comes to defending and being involved in all aspects of the game,” Ruff said. “He’s the one guy who looks like he has really pushed through, and he’s shown he can be a big time player in the league.”.
